Creating order and bestowing significance and purpose is a part of engraving. Execution and taking note of symbolism, can provoke visual pleasure, mental stimulation even intellectual discovery.

ornamentation
Ornaments are decoration, order and separation. An ornament structures and emphasizes, it is ordered parataxic or rhythmic, in short a rhythmic ensemble of abstract and abstracted patterns. The ensembles function is symbolic.
In the centre – a point, a circle, a sphere – i.a. symbol of the sun and of the suns inherent energy: light signifies vital energy. It separates from darkness and splits into day and night, life and death … The symbolism extends for two, three, four up to seven circles. With the seventh circle the hexa-foil is assembled, a harmonic, unflawed and powerful ornament, also a symbol for the seed of life or fruit of life … I choose this symbol for a coaster for water carafes, with time spend engraving, depending on size, richness of detail and engraving style, at least 12 hours and longer.

The Symbol – allegory for something you can take in with your senses, a special connection, a deeper meaning, an emotional or spiritual significance.
The pomegranate – its form, its colour and its many kernels – vivifies(ed) the creative imagination of man. They saw it as a metaphor for the abundance and creative power of life (incl. Death) and of love, as well as natural and spiritual productivity. They saw in it a microcosm, a small sealed of garden, who opened himself to the world when ripening. In it they saw a metaphor for diversity in unity.

The first letters of a Name, most of the time embellished and intertwined, designate(d) objects to people and elucidated the beginning of something.
The clasp of the binder for sheet music not only illustrates that the presentee L.S. is playing the guitar but rather wants them to gain access to the musical universe. The engraving in the first photo on the left with the guitar was created in 5 hours, for the third photo, initials LS with stave, two hours were spend creating. In general time to finish a clasp, depending on size, sawing, richness of detail and engraving style, takes 2 – 5 hours or even longer.

I've got the opportunity to engraved the scratchplate with a illustation "Treasure island" 1883 for a rebuild-guitar. Frank Deiml did 22 years ago for Nikki Sudden (R.I.P.). It is a 5-string guitar based on a merged design inspired by the legendary Ted Newman Jones III design, some Zemaitis influences and Nikki’s theme at that time: „Treasure Island“.
